Free June TV Production Workshops at Acton TV [VIDEO]
Learn how to shoot an edit video for free at Acton TV.
Acton TV announced the June 2012 schedule of its free 4-session “Television Production Workshops” for residents of Acton as well as members of organizations and institutions located within Acton or affiliated to the town.
The TV workshops will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings June 19 / 21 / 26 / 28, 2012 in the Acton TV studio located at 16A Craig Road, in South Acton.

“These free TV workshops continue to attract new students,” Zimmerman said, “and we’re pleased to continue our monthly classes in June in our new, state-of-the-art television studio, so early registration is encouraged to reserve a spot in the classes.”
Like the previous workshops, the June course will cover camera operation, directing, lighting, audio, editing, field production and other aspects of television program production.
- Session 1 (Tuesday, June 19) --- introduction to community television and studio production techniques.
- Session 2 (Thursday, June 21) --- audio & single camera field production.
- Session 3 (Tuesday, June 26) --- lighting & directing for television.
- Session 4 (Thursday, June 28) --- non-linear editing techniques
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to use the new Acton TV television studio and its equipment to produce their own TV programs, or cover meetings and events in town for telecast on Acton TV’s local access channels. In addition, they will be qualified to help other producers or members of the Acton TV staff with studio and field camera shoots.
New Member Orientation, Editing & Advanced Field Production Classes Now Available
In addition, Acton TV is now offering – “New Member Orientation” on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (by appointment only).
Also, “Advanced Field Production Classes” on Tuesday evenings (7:00 to 9:00 p.m. by appointment only) and “Fun With Editing” on Thursday evenings (7:00 to 9:00 p.m. by appointment only) --- both classes open only to graduates of the regular 4-session TV production workshops.
The “New Member Orientation” is designed for new members to learn the concept of community television and how it can be used as a creative outlet for new ideas and viewpoints.
The “Advanced Field Production Class” is designed for those interested in covering events “outside” the studio or producing their own documentaries or short films using Acton TV’s new JVC GY-100 High Def Camcorders, and will include tips and techniques on using special accessories and different types of microphones.
The “Fun with Editing Class” is designed for those interested in learning more about working with Acton TV’s Final Cut Pro non-linear editing system.
“This new public TV studio belongs to the people of Acton to use as their own television production facility, and our staff and equipment are always available,” said Acton TV President Dick Calandrella. “We’ll train you and assist you to telecast any programming you wish, and we invite you to contact us,” he said.
Acton TV (Acton Community Access Television, Inc.) is a non-profit corporation which operates the community’s public cable television studio on Comcast channels 8, 9 and 10, and on Verizon channels 40, 41 and 45.
