Well, it's 99.9 percent official. Johnny Rockets is coming to Acton.
The one percent is the health permit that still needs to be filed. According to Acton's Health Director, Doug Halley, there has been no movement as of yet on the health permit but the building permit was recently granted and construction is underway.
In an email from the VP of Brand Marketing/Communications for Johnny Rockets, Cozette Koerber mentioned to Patch a grand-opening later this summer.
The location is where Friendly's used to be on 387 Massachusetts Avenue, Acton.

I am happy for any small businesspeople who benefit. Meanwhile, it makes me wonder, is there anything to prevent Acton from enacting the kind of limits on chains that they have in some towns, eg some in Martha's Vineyard? I say this, and I love the local places, and the same me sometimes says we really could use a Panera in the old McDonalds building. And the same me says the entire Kmart lot, building and all, other blocks as well, should be redesigned to be a pedestrian shopping area. So I go back and forth.

Is there an update on this? The last time I was in the area, there didn't seem to be any activity on this being built?

I heard from a reputable source that Panera *is* coming to the old McDonald's! Yay! Finally a bakery/cafe/sandwich shop in the area! It was such a huge shame to lose O'Naturals but at least now we're getting something even better. The question is, does anyone know when it will be coming for sure???
