3. HEALTHCARE DISCUSSION: Congregation Beth El of Sudbury has a long history of activism and social justice which it is celebrating as part of its 50th anniversary Jubilee year. Continuing the series, on January 18, the focus will be on Healthcare. Speakers will look back on Beth El’s meaningful commitment in the area of healthcare, and also look forward to future needs. Join us on Friday, January 18 at 7:00 for Shabbat services followed by a panel discussion at 8:00.
Karen Blumenthal will speak on Congregation Beth El’s commitment to a Beth El member who suffered from Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Beth El helped support Mark Reich’s care over a period of 28 years.
Gary Hirsch, President of the MetroWest Free Medical Program will discuss the first 9 years of the program which was jointly founded by and is housed at Beth El. Two additional panelists, Junia Faust (Interpreter for the Metrowest Program) and Sidney Faust (Community activist) will speak on the role of volunteers in healthcare and the profound impact volunteers can have on patients.
Senator Jamie Eldridge, State Senator representing the Middlesex and Worcester District will share his perspectives on the role the MetroWest Free Medical Program has had in meeting the community's health care needs and provide a look at current needs, legislation and initiatives.

4. WHAT TO CELEBRATE TODAY: Today is Winnie the Pooh Day. Winnie the Pooh Day is an opportunity to enjoy your favorite bear and all of his friends. This day was created to celebrate the birth of A.A .Milne in 1882. He was an author of children's story books, and created Winnie the Pooh and his friends.
