Johnny Rockets Open for Business in Acton
Chain restaurant is the second in Middlesex County.
Acton residents yearning for a mouth-watering burger from Johnny Rockets won't have to travel to the Burlington Mall anymore.
Other Johnny Rocket chains in Massachusetts include Logan Airport, Six Flags New England and South Shore Plaza.
According to an online report, the Acton restaurant offers flavorful fare and friendly service in an ambiance reminiscent of feel-good Americana. Patrons can expect juicy burgers, crispy American Fries (served with a ketchup smiley face), hand-spun shakes and classic sandwiches.
And to give it some local flavor, the new restaurant also features menu options that include a New England squealer, pulled pork pickle sandwich, sirloin steak sandwich and The County Fair – using fresh produce from area farms.
“We’re thrilled to offer Acton residents and visitors delicious food and a fun dining experience that can’t help but make them smile,” Lloyd Sugarman, a Johnny Rockets franchise partner since 1992, said in a statement.
Sugarman and son Jason operate 16 locations in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Minnesota, California, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania – partnering with Doug Colenda for the Acton and Burlington, Albany (NY) and Nashville (TN) restaurants.
“We’re the perfect destination before or after visiting The Faulkner House, Jones Tavern or Children’s Discovery Museum … or simply after a day of work, school or running errands. We’ve got something for everyone.”
Johnny Rockets Acton restaurant is located at 371 Massachusetts Ave., near T.J. Maxx and Roche Bros. It is open from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
An attempt to research more information on the restaurant was unsuccessful.

Good burgers, great onion rings, but a little pricey.
I got a "squealer" burger, (a tasty combination of a beef and pork pattie) onion rings and a lemonade for a little over 13 bucks. Ask for "Houston" sauce if you want to spice it up.
The proprietor is passionate about freshness of his products. We chatted at length about it. Johnny's is a great addition to the limited fare here in Acton.

I wish this new restaurant hadn't violated the local sign laws that other businesses abide by. They put several signs all over town, illegally, to advertise their opening. This hurts the local, independent restaurants in town who are trying to make it so there are choices in Acton. Acton's restaurants include many small/family businesses: Crossroads, Il Forno, Le Lyonnaise, Sprigs, The Local Table, Monsoon, Benjarong, Spice Pepper Garden, Bueno Y Sano. There is certainly room for more; let's welcome those who honor the bylaws of the town.

When is the restaurant that was "Scupper Jacks" going to reopen, be bought or something done with this fine spot? Also, what's the story on the former McDonalds on Main St? Why is that not rented? Just wondering....

The ScupperJack's building was available for lease. It is a large space with a high monthly lease, so my guess is only a large, chain restaurant could afford it. These restaurants typically want high traffic areas off the highway or in malls, so that location may not have gotten their attentiion. When I was looking to open a restaurant over two years ago, I called the listing broker for the McDonald's building and they didn't return my calls. I was told (by another broker) that it is owned/leased along with KMart and there was interest by Stop n'Shop in putting a super Stop n'Shop there once the Kmart lease expired. This is heresay, of course. The people in town involved with the development of Kelly's corner may have correct information.

The scupper jacks building does not meet building codes so no one will touch it. the cost of renovation will be huge and i predict the building remains vacant until it is either torn down or a large chain decides to take on the project. the building is too large for a johnny rockets. a few years ago a rumor existed of buffalo wild wings looking at that local but they went to leominster. much better bar crowd there
