POLL: What Type of Business Would You Like To See in Place of the Vacant West Acton Market?

A vacant building in the small business capital of Acton seems unfortunate.

The West Acton Market building has been vacant for quite some time now. Located at 586 Massachusetts Avenue, the small business capital of Acton, where a new candy shop, a preschool, a fresh fish deli and a yoga business, to name a few, recently opened, the vacant building seems to be screaming, “occupy me!”

If it were up to you, what type of business would you like to see in its place and what type of business would you hate to see move in? Please take our Patch poll and also leave a comment in the comment section below to start a conversation with the Acton Patch community.

How about a laundromat combined with used book store? No such convenience in Acton. Drawbacks: parking and wash water disposal.

I agree -- no more banks -- how about a brew pub?

Both Laundromat and Brew Pub would require much better waste-water options then there are now in West Acton. I am more open to sewers in West Acton than I was before, but I know they are expensive, and come with environmental trade-offs. It's time to revive the conversation about the pros & cons of the various waste-water options for West Acton.

An artisan bread bakery outlet store such as When pigs fly , or Iggys or Nashoba brook or Jennifers. BECAUSE OF WASTE WATER DISPOSAL INADEQUACY baked goods would have to be assembled off site, but could be baked on site...nothing like the aroma of fresh baked goods to draw the hungry crowds! Yum!
