A Troubled Week in Acton: Car Accidents, Cub Scout Embezzlement, Child Porn and God

In case you missed it this week, check out the links below for a wrap up of stories featured on Acton Patch.

1). On Feb. 11, Kerry L. Hachey, 53, of Acton was driving on the wrong side of Route 2 in Littleton when she crashed into a stationary police cruiser. The officer at the scene was helping a disabled vehicle. No one was injured and Hachey fled the scene.

2). Kim Eunsam, 46, of Acton was traveling westbound on High Street Tuesday night when she crashed her 2007 Toyota 4Runner into a telephone pole, which jolted her vehicle onto its roof. Acton police and rescue arrived on-scene and used the Jaws of Life to free her from the vehicle. Eunsam was transferred to Emerson Hospital for minor injuries.

3). An atheist Acton family that has chosen to remain anonymous is suing the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District, declaring that saying “one nation under God” during the Pledge of Allegiance discriminates against their children.

5). For members of the high school’s mock trial team, the third time’s the charm. In the first two attempts that the students made, they did not move on past the preliminary round.

The twelve-member group won all three of its first-round matches in the current competition. Held at nearby Concord District Court on Jan. 25, Jan. 31 and Feb. 8, 2012, the students bested opponents from Maynard High School, Concord Academy and Ayer-Shirley Regional High School.

6). Chris Allen Oake, 59, of Acton, was convicted in federal court for possession of child pornography, transportation of child pornography and two counts of receipt of child pornography, officials said. Oake pled guilty before U.S. District Judge, Nathaniel M. Gorton, on Thursday, Feb. 15.

Oake will be sentenced on May 22 and is facing 20 years in prison for each count of transporting child pornography, along with a lifetime supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
