Ask Patch: How Can We Help Those Most Affected By Hurricane Sandy

Earlier this week a resident asked: Does anyone know if anywhere in Acton is collecting goods (Clothes/food/gift cards) to help victims of Hurricane Sandy? Here are some answers.

What we know so far is Palmer Moving Company in Acton has agreed to provide Massachusetts—New York Relief Runs with a 34-foot truck and driver.

According to its Facebook page, Massachusetts—New York Relief Runs is looking for donations of work boots, winter coats, socks, batteries (sizes C and D), flashlights, surgical gloves, hand and foot warmers, blankets, diapers, formula, baby food, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and deodorant.

"We are native New Yorkers who now live in Littleton, Massachusetts gathering storm relief supplies to deliver to the Tri-State area over the next few weeks," it states on the Facebook page. "Due to the enormous response of kind people who want to help and donate we've established this page to coordinate efforts, establish drop off sites, and inspire people to get their own supply chains started. We will be sharing information about the ever changing situation in NY, NJ and LI and providing information on how those of us from out of state can help. Our first trip will be next Sunday November 11. Please email jred47@hotmail.com to coordinate a drop off/pick up before the 11th.
