Young, Almost Married and Ready for Politics

Young Acton Republican is heading to the Republican National Convention.

Believe it or not there are young Republicans out there and they're knocking on your doors for political support. They're equipped with the right rhetoric to lead an army of supporters into political battle against the president of the United States and they're heading to the big show in Tampa, FL.

Eric Romaniak, 23, Republican elected delegate from the 3rd district of Massachusetts, lives in Acton with his fiance and is on his way to the Republican National Convention (RNC). Romaniak is a cook at the Vesper Country Club in Tyngsboro and he is an active Republican, working to gain support for candidates such as Congressional candidate Jon Golnik (R-Carlisle) and Middlesex & Worcester District State Senate candidate Dean Cavaretta (R-Stow).

"I'd vote for Mickey Mouse over President Obama," said Romaniak. "President Obama makes Jimmy Carter look like George Washington."

Romaniak says he has been a conservative since Bill Clinton's reelection when he was 8 years-old. And at the young age of 23, found himself to be one of 41 delegates from Massachusetts elected to attend the RNC.

"I'm not sure what to expect, to be honest with you," said Romaniak. "I'm hopeful that it will be a time where we can unite the party and people watching on TV will see that we had a rough primary, but we have our nominee now and we are going to go after President Obama with full force."

Romaniak said he has no personal ambitions with his new role and just wants to "get the right people in office rather than the same people that have been in office doing the wrong things over and over again."

He wants a Republican president to serve the country for the next four years but he is on the fence with who the right Republican is for the job. When asked if he was satisfied with the Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan ticket, he said, "We could do a lot worse. Was Romney my first pick, no. Was he my second or third? Yes. As I said at the caucus, Romney drove around in a Ford Crown Vic not a brand new Cadillac like our current governor. [Romney is] a very decent man and though I don't agree with all of his policies, he's a good man and he'll always do what he feels is right and he'll always do the right moral things as well."

On Ryan, Romaniak said, "Paul Ryan is good. I don't think he is as extreme as the media portrays him except for Medicare. The Medicare voucher scares the crap out of me."

When asked to comment on what someone might think about his lack of experience in politics, Romaniak said, "I would agree. I have no experience running up the debt. I have no experience in creating bureaucracies that make life harder for the people of the district. I don't think sending lifelong politicians to the RNC does anything for anyone. I think that regular people who want to get involved and somehow get the votes is the best kind of delegate out there."

Go Eric go. Learn and be with Americans who put work over entitlement. Come back and teach other young people these values. I hope you do well.

Eric, you are special as a young Republican. Given what some describe as the 'War on Women,' it is surprising that Republicans are able to reproduce. What self-respecting woman would mate with a Republican? But then again, maybe Republicans are made, not born.

Obama does NOT support our troops - not at all!

He took 4 months to figure out the troop surge in Afghanistan, then announced the departure date to the world.

He uses troops as backdrops for photo-ops, but doesn't give them the ROEs they need to get the job done.

Now he wants veterans to pay more for their health care.

AND - he and his Village Idiot blabbed the identy of the team that took down bin Laden. That information should have been kept secret for 50 years! But Obama wanted to look like a 'fearless commander' [I ordered, me, I, I, I, I,...] and he keeps spiking the football. What a donkey!
