Acton Lions Open Their Fall Season with Support for Lazarus House

The Action Lions opened up the 2013-14 season with their first dinner meeting at Bella Famiglia.  The Lions are gearing up for another year of service to the blind and support for a wide variety of Acton and surrounding area charities and organizations.  The guest speaker for the meeting was Ray Joyce, the Director of Development at Lazarus House Ministries of Lawrence, MA.

Lazarus House Ministries provides emergency shelter, food and clothing to people in need and then offers transitional housing, advocacy, health services, education and work preparation with an innovative approach that seeks to permanently break the cycle of poverty.  The Acton Lions' President, Joe Biggins, thanked Mr Joyce for educating the Lions on Lazarus House's programs saying that “Lazarus House Ministries is the type of organization we love to support!  Their innovative approach to breaking the chain of poverty is something that should be emulated across the country.”  Mr Biggins then presented Mr Joyce with a check for $500.00, continuing the annual support the Lions have provided to Lazarus House over the past several years.
