April Vacation Art Adventures at The Umbrella: "Green" Week

The Umbrella Community Arts Center is welcoming spring with April Vacation Art Adventures: “Green” Week, an Arts Education program for ages 4-13 which runs April 22-25, 2014. “Green” Week will explore earth-friendly and recycled materials art making. Art Adventures students will use their imaginations to transform plastic parts, newspaper, cardboard, scrap fabrics, and recycled ceramics - what some people call trash - into beautiful art. Students will also collect art materials from nature while exploring our local environment and learning about plants and animals. Art Adventurers will have the opportunity to work in the mediums of drawing and painting, 2D and 3D mixed media sculpture, Ceramics, Art and Environment, Woodworking, and Performance. As a special collaboration with Musketaquid’s Earth Day Celebration, all students will be invited to submit pieces of art or work on puppets for our Musketaquid Earth Day Parade on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 10-2pm.

Age Range 4-13 and opportunities for half-day, full-day, and extended day are available. For more information or to register, visit www.emersonumbrella.org. Questions should be referred to Jason Springer, Director of Education, at 978.371-0820 ext. 202 or  jspringer@emersonumbrella.org. Registration deadline is Monday, April 14, 2014.

The Umbrella enriches lives and builds a vibrant community through the arts.  We inspire creativity, learning, and personal growth through education, performing and visual arts, cultural events, and community collaborations.  Each year we engage, excite, and educate people of all ages – from toddlers to seniors – in the arts.  Our performing arts and events draw thousands to our 400-seat theatre.  We present approximately 10 exhibitions per year including curated, juried, and non-juried exhibitions and works by local, regional, and national artists.  Our popular Musketaquid Arts and Environment program links discovery of art with passion for nature. Our community of 50 artists adds tremendous vitality and inspiration. For more information please visit us online at www.emersonumbrella.org or call 978-371-0820. Please like us on Facebook.
