Artwork by Acton Resident Pat Gunning Displayed by Emerson Hospital Auxiliary

The Emerson Hospital Auxiliary is displaying the artwork of Pat Gunning of Acton from February 3 through April 4 at the main campus of Emerson Hospital.

Gunning is a valuable asset to Emerson, having volunteered since 2003 at the front desk, as a greeter and arranging the tour guides for new hospital staff during employee orientations. “Pat is a great help,” said Jeri Ravis, an Auxilian and office manager of community services at Emerson. “She is very pleasant and kind to both patients and visitors of the hospital.”

Gunning grew up on the coast of Rhode Island and spent some time in northern Vermont.  These areas stimulated her love of nature, flowers, the ocean and the mountains. “Painting in nature is what I enjoy the most,” she said. “My desire is to reflect the natural landscape, light and color in my paintings so that I can share my love of nature and its beauty with others.”

Gunning received her B.S. from Trinity College in Burlington, Vt., and she studied oil and watercolors at the DeCordova Museum School of Art in Lincoln. Recently, she has been studying Chinese brush painting at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston. She is an active member of the Chinese Painting Guild of Boston, the Concord Art Association and the Museum of Fine Arts. She has had many one-woman shows and her art is exhibited in local group exhibitions, as well as in private collections both in the U.S. and abroad.
