5 Things: Ways to Obtain Certificates and Licenses

Links for dog license, special liquor license and more.

1. Dog license

Massachusetts General Law (Chapter 140, Sec. 137 and 137A) and Town By-Law (E22 through E25) require a dog six months of age to be licensed. All dogs must be licensed by March 1st. Failure to license your dog will result in a $25.00 fine in addition to the license fee. Click here for a dog license application.

2. One-day liquor license

Are you a local business owner with a special function scheduled? If so and you want to serve liquor, the Town of Acton has a form for you to fill to apply for one.

3. Birth, marriage and death certificates

For copies of these certificates, you must fill out a vital records request form. That can be found here.

4. Pay your taxes online

The Town of Acton offers an easy and secure way to view, print, and pay real estate and personal property tax bills, motor vehicle excise bills and sewer operation and maintenance bills online. It supports electronic presentment (viewing) and billing, because it is more convenient for our residents, and better for the environment.  Online presentment and payment eliminates the need to print and receive paper bills (except for motor vehicle excise bills, which the State requires be mailed), thereby lessening the destruction of forests for paper production.

The Town, in partnership with and through Invoice Cloud, a web-based, electronic invoice presentment and processing company, offers online payment of the above bills via either EFT/ACH electronic checks (i.e., electronic fund transfers from your bank checking or savings accounts), or, Visa or Master Card credit/debit cards.

5. FORECAST

Thursday: Morning sunshine with afternoon clouds. A few showers are possible by evening. More humid with temps near 80.
