Enrolling my children in public schools is my right. It should come with no strings attached -- such as requiring that personally identifiable information about my family be collected. Not only should parents know WHAT is being collected, WHY it's being collected and WHO is seeing it, our consent should be required before it is given or sold to anyone. Also see yesterday's Globe article regarding the costs associated with online testing: http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2014/06/15/most-massachusetts-schools-l... Privacy and costs are two practical issues that should concern everyone, regardless of political persuasion.
