UPDATE: Town Hall Closing, Meetings Cancelled Due to Snow

The storm will make for dangerous driving possibly in the morning and evening commutes.

Updated Thursday at 11:50 a.m.: Thursday's storm has caused a variety of closings in Acton.

Town offices will close at 12 p.m., though emergency services will continue to operate as normal.

The Acton Leadership Group Meeting scheduled for THursday night has been postponed until Saturday at 10 a.m. In addition, the Open Space and Recreation Public Input Meeting has been rescheduled to February 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Original Story: The snowstorm headed toward New England will likely make travel treacherous on Thursday, with snow falling in the morning and possible freezing rain hitting the roads by the evening commute.

The National Weather Service is predicting 5-9 inches of snow for Acton falling by sunset.

Snow should begin Thursday morning and change over to sleet and freezing rain on Thursday afternoon and evening. Winds will be 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph so power outages are possible.

After nightfall, snow and sleet accumulations could reach one or two inches. Rain, freezing rain, and sleet are predicted to hit Acton until around 3 a.m.
