Wild Storm Barrels Through Acton

Powerful thunderstorms barreled through Acton Monday, prompting a rare tornado warning.

Several people captured what appeared to resemble a funnel cloud over Route 2. There was no immediate confirmation of a tornado touching down; the National Weather Service said it issued the warning because conditions could have produced one.

NWS did say that a microburst hit neighborhood Bedford, accompanied by winds as fast as 100 mph, which downed trees and power lines.

In Concord, the storm tore down trees at Concord Country Club.

More extreme weather is on the way, as thunderstorms were in the forecast Tuesday and Wednesday.
