"To assemble this year’s Best Schools list, we spent months compiling numbers—released by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education—from 147 municipalities in Greater Boston,” reports BoMag. “The schools in the cities and towns that topped our proprietary ranking stood out across 20 different categories, including student-to-teacher ratio, average class size, expenditures per pupil, rate of college matriculation, and results on tests such as the SAT and the MCAS.”
While Acton was ranked in the mid-20s, neighboring Boxborough placed fifth on the list, behind only Dover, Sherborn, Lexington and Carlisle.
Acton-Boxborough earned high marks in a few “Top of the Class” categories, as well. AB was ranked No. 1 for the highest percentage of students achieving proficiency on AP exams, and came in second for highest overall SAT scores.
So, what do you think? Is 24 to low for Acton's public schools? Share your thoughts about BoMag's rankings in the comment section below.
