See Where BoMag Ranked Acton's Schools

Boston Magazine's annual 'Best Schools' issue hit newsstands on Aug. 27.

The Acton Public Schools were named the 24th best school district in Great Boston in the latest “Best Schools” issue of Boston magazine, which hit newsstands on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

"To assemble this year’s Best Schools list, we spent months compiling numbers—released by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education—from 147 municipalities in Greater Boston,” reports BoMag. “The schools in the cities and towns that topped our proprietary ranking stood out across 20 different categories, including student-to-teacher ratio, average class size, expenditures per pupil, rate of college matriculation, and results on tests such as the SAT and the MCAS.”

While Acton was ranked in the mid-20s, neighboring Boxborough placed fifth on the list, behind only Dover, Sherborn, Lexington and Carlisle.
