Acton Biotech Company Awarded Nearly $1M Grant

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center awarded the money.

Excellims, an Acton company that produces chemical detection equipment, on Wednesday was awarded a nearly $1 million capital grant.

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, a quasi-public agency charged with implementing the 10-year, $1-billion Massachusetts Life Sciences Act, distributed $980,000 to Excellims, according to the Boston Globe. The center also awarded $9.7 million to the Berkshire Innovation Center in Pittsfield.

The center has awarded $400 million to state organizations since 2008, leading to the creation of "thousands" of new jobs, the Globe reported.
