Acton's Friendly's No Longer in Business
Friendly's files for Chapter 11, causing several restaurant locations to go out of business - Acton being one.
Friendly’s Restaurant on 387 Massachusetts Avenue, Acton, has gone out of business, along with roughly 30 other locations in Massachusetts and 63 total. Boston.com is reporting that 1,200 employees have lost their jobs. There is no exact number of Acton’s restaurant employees.
"The purpose of this process is to establish a firmer financial-base and build a stronger, better and more competitive company for the long term interest of its employees, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders," according to the Friendly’s Ice Cream Restructuring Hotline. "These filings do not mean the company is going out of business."
