POLL: Best Place for Breakfast in Acton

Acton Patch kicks off a series of "Best Of Acton" contests. Vote in the poll, defend your choice in the comments, and come back Friday at noon to find out the winner.

Acton Patch is starting a series of week-long "Best Of Acton" contests. The first category is: Best Breakfast Place.

Here's how it works. Vote in the poll below. Add comments supporting your decision and influencing other Actonians to see that you're right, after all.

The poll closes at 9 a.m. Friday. Because this poll isn't scientific, it isn't the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor (that's me, Patrick Clark), based on poll results, comments on this story and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey.

And now, the nominees, along with links to their Patch Places pages:

The winner gets bragging rights and a framed certificate from Patch. Let the voting begin! If you don't see your favorite business listed, leave a comment below and let us know.

Sweet bites gets my vote for best coffee, best sweet pastries and great egg sandwiches.

I'm surprised Dicapri's is not on the list...they seem so busy.

Julie's Place is terrible. Hard to believe so many people like to eat there. Everything is out of a can or bottle, and the pancakes are weird rubbery thick sponge things. Can't believe we don't have a nice simple diner in the area that makes good, fresh to order, breakfast and lunch.

I agree with Christine about Julie's Place. Great in theory, but horrible in execution. Wish we had a real breakfast diner in town.

Bickford's gets my vote hands down! Homemade Oatmeal,Blueberry Crepes,Various omeletes, waffles are our top choices. And bottomless cups of coffee. Very clean places to sit, wait staff NICE and helpful. Makes this one the best !

Never tried Julie's Place, but have heard and read terrible reviews. Will have to check it out at some point. Also didn't realize there was a Bickford's in town!

I disagree! Love the western omlette there!

I still miss the Cinnamon Sugar Muffin from Continental Cafe! And my wife, their southwestern quiche. Bagels Plus gets my vote. DiCapri should definitely be listed, while Julie's needs to work on their Coffee and Sweet Bites needs to work on their prices.

Bickfords crepes...YUM! I muss continental cafe...sweet bites is overpriced!

DiCapri for breakfast---reasonable prices, fast service, excellent quality. Gets my vote.

Yummyy love Bickfords!!!

I rather go somewhere that isn't crazy busy and not have to keep my head down, but their bacon is gross.
Lauren February 28, 2012 at 04:04 AM
and bacon is key in this poll for me :)

Bagels Plus has the best breakfast and great coffee. Their prices are reasonable and atmosphere unpretentious. I love the sunflower seed bagel. Sweet Bytes is delish too, but like others said, it's a bit pricey, but great coffee. Bagels Plus and Julies is good to take little kids.

Knowing, I was going to have to introduce a writing prompt to my fourth grade class titled " My Favorite Breakfast". I decided to read your article"Poll: The Best Place in Acton for Breakfast" to the kids of room 14". The classroom grew silent, the tension was palpable, kids were bursting to share there favorite breakfast spot. The pressure was too much and their words exploded from them as if their opinion was the only one that mattered. They took sides, formed alliances, they wanted to vote, they needed to vote. So, I did what every good teacher would do, we took a vote. So wait, wait, no a little longer, the results are : Dunkin Donuts with 10 votes, Julies Place with 8 votes, Bagels Plus with 2 votes, and Sweet Bites with 2 votes. And lastly, Acton House of Coffee, 0 votes followed by Bickford's, with 0 votes. So, let the votes stand, the kid's of Douglas School have spoken; Dunkin Donuts is the victor!

I think, having 3 kids in my house, if I ran the poll between ourselves, we'd arrive at the same ratio.

it's kids, not kid's, teacher!
Lauren March 01, 2012 at 02:14 PM
I think the kids need a field trip to Bickfords for waffles and pancakes :)

If Dunkin Donuts is on the list, why not Starbucks? Both are ginormous chains but it only seems fair to include both or neither.
Patrick Clark (Editor) March 21, 2012 at 12:00 AM
Hey Chris, we put 'other' in the poll for anyone to state otherwise in the comments section.
