You Could Name This Street in Acton

Acton Plaza is hosting a social media contest to name the road connecting between the two parts of the plaza.

We're pretty sure Bono had Belfast, and not Acton, in mind for U2's ballad "Where the Streets Have No Name." But, if there are any lingering doubts, a contest kicking off Oct. 17 should erase them.

This Thursday, Acton Plaza is kicking off a contest asking locals to use social media to submit their suggestions for a name for the currently nameless road between the upper and lower plazas.

The contest begins at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, and runs through 11:59 p.m. Oct. 31. During that time, locals can submit their name ideas for the road, along with an explanation, via Facebook.

A winner will be chosen based that's the best fit for the road based on creativity and relevance to the town. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration to announce the new name sometime after ongoing construction to the plaza wraps up in early November

Along with the glory of naming the road, the winner will also receive $100 in gift certificates from as many as four Acton Plaza businesses.
