Local CrossFit Gym in Acton Raises Over $13,000 in Breast Cancer Fundraising Event

Acton, MA- Local CrossFit gym CrossFit Reach held their annual October fundraiser on Saturday, October 19th to raise money to help fight breast cancer.

The event, called “Barbells for Boobs”, is traditionally held during the month of October with nearly a thousand CrossFit gyms participating in the fundraiser nationwide.    All proceeds for the event benefits Barbells for Boobs and Mammograms in Action, a 501 c(3) charity that provides mammograms for those in need.

This year CrossFit Reach was able to raise over $13,000 in their event, more than doubling what was raised during this event last year.  With $80 covering the cost of one mammogram, CrossFit Reach was able to provide 162 mammograms to those that could otherwise not afford one.

During this event, over 50 athletes participated in a workout called “Grace”, a CrossFit workout which requires the athlete to lift a barbell from the ground to overhead for 30 repetitions as fast and well as possible.

With the amount of money that was raised, CrossFit Reach stands in 8th position out of nearly one thousand CrossFit gyms nationwide in terms of overall money raised.
