Acton residents living near the Assabet River will need to keep a keen eye on its water level over the next two days.
According to the National Weather Service, a flood watch has been issued for Middlesex County, which includes the Town of Acton.
From Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, residents can expect up to an inch of rain. That, combined with snow melt, may cause small streams to flood.
The Assabet River may rise above flood stage late Wednesday, the NWS says.
A flood watch means there is the potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Residents are advised to be on the alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
