ABRHS PTSO Presents “A Parent’s Guide to the New Teenager”

The ABRHS PTSO invites the community to come hear Tony Wolf, Ph.D., author of the best selling and critically acclaimed “Get Out of My Life but First Could You Drive Me and Cheryl to the Mall, A Parent’s Guide to the New Teenager” and his most recent book “I’d Listen to My Parents if They’d Just Shut Up,” speak at the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School Auditorium on Tuesday, November 5th at 7 PM.

Dr. Wolf’s talk will describe how as a part of normal psychological development teenagers develop what seems to be an allergy to their parents.  It will describe how teenagers today are different than in the past – more outspoken and less immediately obedient.  Dr. Wolf will discuss how the behavior at home almost always has another more civilized side that they show to the world outside and how this side is the better indicator of who they are and who they will become.  The talk will include useful, and also very definitely not useful, ways of dealing with today’s teenagers that can make a real difference in day to day living with your teenager.

Dr. Anthony Wolf is a practicing child psychologist in the Springfield, Massachusetts area and the author of a numerous child-raising books.  He is often quoted in the media and currently writes a bi-weekly column on parenting teenagers for the Toronto Globe and Mail.  He also has done recent blogs for The Huffington Post and Fox News.  He has appeared on many TV shows including The View, The Talk, The Today Show and CBS This Morning, and was featured in a PBS television special on “tweens.”
Dr. Wolf is currently on the advisory board of The Century Council, a non-profit that combats underage drinking.  He is a frequent and widely sought after lecturer for both parents and professional audiences, known for his ability to describe what actually goes on in real people’s homes, for his humor and for his practical and very helpful advice.
