Winter Solstice with Emerson Umbrella

Winter Solstice Celebration

What better way to celebrate the longest, darkest night of the year than with song and s'mores around a blazing fire! Don your jackets, pile the family into the SUV and join the Musketaquid crowd on the grounds of the Old Manse on Saturday, December 21 from 6pm-7:30pm for spirited song and light refreshments. Let the luminaria guide you and light your way from the parking lot down to the river. Here you will join with friends, old and new, in celebration of the Winter Solstice while you sing-along with Voices for the Earth, a chorus for all.
"This will be a lot of fun," says Fred Lindgren, a member of Voices for the Earth. "We'll have song sheets with words, marshmallows to roast, and a fire to dance around."

"In past years," Lindgren continues,"the Winter Solstice Celebration was more of a performance to watch, but we could tell that a lot of people really wanted to sing-along. This year we are changing the format to be less formal and more inclusive; we expect people to sing-along!"

Let this Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts annual event--celebrating the magic and mystery of winter's night sky--add a little serenity to an otherwise hectic season. "Singing outdoors around a fire by the river is good for the soul," says Lindgren.
In the event of rain, the celebration moves to Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, 40 Stow Street, Concord, MA 01742. For more information visit emersonumbrella.org.
