Help an Area Resident on the Road to Recovery from Ovarian Cancer

Lisa Kirschner was shocked.

Her cancer had returned after more than a year. She had no symptoms, so the return of ovarian cancer was tough to take. But Kirschner had some experience in this area, having been diagnosed with and successfully treated for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma 23 years ago, so she quickly got to work on dealing with the disease.

Now, she’s turning to friends, neighbors and strangers moved by her story for financial assistance through a GoFundMe page.

“I'm on this site to ask for your help with medical and dental bills, as well as holistic treatments not covered by insurance,” Kirschner writes on the page. “The key to doing well during chemotherapy and beyond, is to take as good care of myself as possible.”

She’s seeking a total of $15,000 to cover dental work to fix the four teeth that have cracked and chipped after being weakened by her last round of chemo treatments in 2012; to complete payments to a doctor who has helped identify food and seasonal allergies and to pay for acupuncture and energy work during and after upcoming months of chemotherapy.

“I'm already deeply touched by everyone's outpouring of love and support,” Kirschner wrote on her GoFundMe page. “You give me hope, bolster my faith, and fill my heart. I'm so very hopeful that I can return to full health soon so I can help others touched by cancer once again.”
