Director of 'Labor Day' in Acton

Famous for directing movies like 'Up in the Air' and 'Juno,' Jason Reitman was said to be in Acton this week scoping out the locations for the movie 'Labor Day' set to film in Acton this summer.

Council on Aging Director Sharon Mercurio said movie director Jason Reitman, who is filming the movie "" staring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin (scenes to be filmed in Acton this summer) was at the Wednesday, May 23, with a production crew of roughly thirty-five scoping out the setting.

"It was amazing to see how it all worked behind the scenes," said Mercurio. "At one point in the film Kate Winslet's character is teaching a dance class at a senior center and they really felt our place was perfect. They weren’t looking for a new building, they were looking for something that kind of looked aged," Mercurio laughs.

According to Mercurio, there will be only one day, if not a half-day of shooting at the Acton Senior Center. No renovations to the center are needed for the film.
