Where to Cut Your Own Christmas Tree Near Acton

Local Guide to where you can go with your family to cut your own Christmas Tree

If you feel like having a Clark Griswold Christmas, where might you take your family in Middlesex County to cut your own Christmas Tree? Having grown up in NH, I knew of no other way to get a tree then to venture out to a tree farm, find the right tree, cut it down yourself and bring it home. The tradition lives on as we took our two year old daughter out for the first time. Funny, I remember chiseling snow and ice off the trees, and seeing my father dig the snow to get at the trunk so he could saw it down. We ventured out in 55 degree, sunny weather. Here is the results of my research on tree farms near Acton.

Durkee Tree Farm is open daily from the day after Thanksgiving to the second weekend in December when they estimate running out of trees for the year. You’ll find mainly Fraser Fir trees, with a few other varieties mixed in.

Forestry Farm is open Thanksgiving weekend and weekends until they sell out. Forestry Farm has Fraser Fir and Concolor (White Fir) trees to chose from.

Houde’s Tree Farm is open daily from Thanksgiving weekend into December. Their website has a 5$ coupon, so be sure to click the link if you head to Houde’s Farm. My family got our tree at Houde’s this year. The staff was very helpful in helping you select the right variety of their available selection which includes: Balsam Fir, Fraser Fir, White Fir, Douglas Fir, Blue Spruce, Norway Spruce, and Pines. They not only provide the saws, but also a tree sled to bring the tree back to your car which we found very fun and convenient. We pulled our daughter in the sled out to the field and easily pulled the tree back to the car with the sled. December 3rd Santa Claus will be coming from 10-2 at Houde’s.

The Tree Farm is open Friday- Sunday until Christmas in December. They carry Balsam, Concolor, Douglas Fir, Fraser Fir, Blue Spruce and Pine. Tree tagging is available.

Mistletoe Farm is open weekends in December. It’s best to come the first two weekends in December before they run out of trees for the year. Mark and Beth carry Balsam, white fir, fraser fir and blue spruce. Free coffee and hot chocolate to all customers.

Doe Orchards trees are available the Friday after Thanksgiving and weekends in December until they run out of trees. The tree selection includes Balsam Fir, Blue Spruce, and Norway Spruce.

Happy Holidays to you and your family. I hope you enjoy cutting your Christmas Tree.
