Paul Shaughnessy, Acton Banker, Dies at 79

A celebration of life will be held April 5.

Paul F. Shaughnessy, 79, of Acton, MA died peacefully Thursday, March 13, 2014 surrounded by loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean (Campbell) Shaughnessy, to whom he was married for 31 years.

Born and raised in Dorchester, MA, he was the middle son of the late William and Dorothy (McHugh) Shaughnessy. He attended Boston University and served honorably as a Lieutenant with the US Air Force, stationed in San Antonio, TX. 

Mr. Shaughnessy was a banker by trade and was Vice President at the Provident Savings Bank in Boston for many years. In the 1980s, he co-founded BMS in Waltham, MA, a financial services company. He was an excellent cook who loved entertaining family. He was kind, funny and connected easily with other people. He will be sorely missed. 

He is survived by three loving and grateful step-children: Beth Quinn LaBossiere of Acton, MA, Richard Quinn and his wife Susan of Sterling, MA, and Jeannie Quinn Meijer and her husband Cliff of Acton, MA.; 6 loving grandchildren: Kate and Caleigh LaBossiere, Campbell and Brian Quinn, Jay and Matthew Meijer; and two brothers: William Shaughnessy of Braintree and Thomas Shaughnessy of Quincy and their families.

A celebration of Mr. Shaughnessy’s life will take place on Saturday, April 5th at 10 a.m. at the Woodlawn Chapel, adjacent to the Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Rd. Acton, MA. Interment in Cohasset will be private at a later date.
