A graduate in Acton-Boxborough Regional High School’s Class of 2011, Michael Nathan Clark, of Boxborough, died earlier this month as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Cobleskill, New York.

According to news reports, Clark was one of four students riding in the SUV and headed back to school at Ithaca College after Thanksgiving Break, when the driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid a deer on Interstate 88.

Many remember Clark, a 21-year-old junior and English major at Ithaca, as an active participant in the choral and theatre groups at ABRHS. He continued to pursue those interests in college, where he was recently inducted into the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, according to an obituary posted by Concord Funeral Home.

That same obituary says there will be a memorial service for Michael Clark at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29 at Acton-Boxborough High School.

Also from the obituary:

Michael was a junior English Major at Ithaca College in New York State. He was passionate about poetry and literature, with a special love of Shakespeare. He was on the speech and debate teams in high school and college. He had recently been inducted to the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society.

He will always be remembered for his kind smile, loving demeanor, and for his love of a wide range of music, films, and English football. He enthusiastically sang with the ABRHS Madrigal Singers for his entire high school career.

Gifts in Clark’s name can be made to: Ithaca College – Institutional Advancement, 953 Danby Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 (www.ithaca.edu). Please include a memo indicating the gift is in Clark’s memory.
