Framingham Man Faces Domestic Charge in Acton

The following arrest information was supplied by the Acton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A call to the Acton Police Department on Dec. 22 regarding a domestic problem resulted in the arrest of a Framingham man.

At about 1:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to 105 Central Street after a caller reported being punched by someone who then left the area.

That person's vehicle was stopped by responding officers when he returned to the area.

After an investigation was completed, Mark J. Bernstein, 44, of 310 Potter Road, was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

The arresting officer as James Goodemote.

This all initiated during new years weekend at our relatives. Accusations were not all credible. Mark being of good character was defending an immediate family member from an out of control, troubled adult male cousin. Calls got blown out of proportion and spiraled into a series of exaggerated statements and an unfortunate event for Mark resulted. Reports are not completely accurate. The word inadvertent was omitted for one thing. Mark is working with his attorney to clear this unfortunate, embarrassing event up. His family was humiliated but is looking forward to some closure.

I know the Bernstein family very well. This was an unfortunate, traumatic series of events to experience. They certainly did not expect an arrest, never been through such a thing before, but according to there attorney the law has changed significantly in the past six years. Thorough investigations are really left to the courts and attorney's. Report omitted and added words, not stated. The family is relieved to clear this up as soon as possible and move forward as the good citizen's they are.
