Mercedes Smashes into Acton's Crossroads Café

Accident occurred just before the Acton eatery opened on Sunday, Jan. 26. The restaurant is open for business on Monday.

A 51-year-old Stow woman is facing charges of operating to endanger and leaving the scene of an accident after property damage after she allegedly crashed her 2012 Mercedes into Crossroads Cafe Sunday morning in Acton. 

The accident occurred shortly after 11 a.m. and shortly before the restaurant opened on Jan. 26, according to a press release from the Acton Police Department

"Officers arrived and found damage to the handicapped parking sign, a bench, the building and two large glass windows," the press release said. "No one was injured as the restaurant was just about to open and there were no workers in the area of the windows at the time."

The driver, who had initially left the scene, returned a while later and claimed that accident occurred after "she hit the gas when she meant to hit the brake," the press release said.   

Crossroads Cafe, located at Nagog Park, is open for business today, Jan. 27.
