Organized Crime Hits Acton

On June 19, three local businesses were broken into and one on May 28.

According to the Acton Police Department, within the past several weeks four local businesses have been broken into. The break-ins are taking place during early morning hours and the thieves are gaining entry through the rooftop HVAC vent units or breaking windows.

A list of businesses broken into:

 May 28, 2011:

(100 Powder Mill Road)

June 19, 2011:

1). (20 Nagog Park Drive)

2). (511 Nagog Park Drive)

3). Daniela’s Cantina Restaurant (103 Nagog Park Drive)

According to Acton Police Detective Sergeant, Raymond Grey, all four Acton break-ins appear to be connected.

“They’re all connected – it’s apparently an organized group,” said Grey. “They’ve hit Leominster, Nashua, Chelmsford and Concord – and in all these cases they have basically gained access through the vent system on the roofs. In one case they were able to take the safe right out of the business and in another case they were able to cut the safe right open.”

If anyone has any information regarding these break-ins, contact the Detective Division at 978.264.9640 (Raymond Grey – Detective Sergeant).

Acton Patch will have more on this story a it develops.
