Police Log: 9-Year-Old and a Needle, Raccoon 'Round the High School

The following information was provided by the Acton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Saturday, Nov. 2

12:18 a.m. – A Strawberry Hill Road resident called to report an ongoing noise issue with an upstairs neighbor.

10:27 a.m. – Police responded to Willow Street for a report of an attempted breaking-and-entering. According to the log note, there did not appear to be entry gained, and it was possible the wind just blew in a window.

12:05 p.m. – A mother reported her 9-year-old daughter found a needle in some bushes on Mass Ave. The mother also said her daughter removed the cap and may have stuck herself, although the girl said she did not break the skin. The woman was advised to contact the family doctor, and police collected the item in case the doctor wanted it tested.

2:34 p.m. – A wallet was turned into the station that contained several credit cards, a Green Card, $26 cash, 5 Euros, 10 pounds and 24 Yuan, as well as a check for $1,599 and the owner’s license. The man picked up his wallet shortly after it was turned in.

5:29 p.m. – A woman dropped off an ATM card she found on Mass Ave.

6:29 p.m. – Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Mass Ave, causing minor damage to both vehicles but no injuries to the occupants.

7:37 p.m. – Police responded to Central Street to speak with a man regarding an ongoing issue in which his son was allegedly getting harassed by other teens.

9:03 p.m. – A man reported his wife forgot her iPhone at a Main Street restaurant and, when they returned to retrieve it, the phone was nowhere to be found. Using the “Find My iPhone App,” the man and woman determined the phone was located on Main Street in Acton, which led him to believe one of the waitstaff had stolen it. However, the responding officer located the phone beneath the booth where the couple had been sitting.

Sunday, Nov. 3

7:55 a.m. – Police responded to a report of a vehicle parked at the railroad crossing on Parker Street. The vehicle belonged to a railroad worker and there were no issues, according to the log note.

8:54 a.m. – Police responded to an alarm activation on Stoneymeade Way, which was confirmed as accidental by the homeowner.

12:33 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a rabid raccoon on Hayward Road. The responding officer reported the raccoon was hit by a car, and then went into some thick brush; he was unable to locate the injured animal.

2:43 p.m. – An injured raccoon was reported in the area of Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. The responding officer was unable to locate the animal.

4:23 p.m. – Police responded to Great Road, for a report of a vehicle parked with its doors open and no one around it.

5:03 p.m. – Officers investigated a motor vehicle accident on Main Street.

11:56 p.m. – A woman requested to speak with an officer regarding suspicious activity involving her mother and a stranger in a parking lot on Strawberry Hill Road earlier in the evening.
