Police Log: Disturbing Dirt Bikes, Sketchy Solicitors and More

The following information was provided by the Acton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Sept. 12

8:21 a.m. – Police responded to Independence Road for a well-being check on an older man there. The resident’s adult daughter picked him up and units cleared, according to the log entry.

1:36 p.m. – Police responded to a reported domestic incident on Ledge Rock Way.

2:28 p.m. – A parking complaint came in from Taylor Road and, as a result, the driver of a commercial vehicle was told not to park there anymore.

3:05 p.m. – Police responded to a report of solicitors in the Long Ridge Road area. The responding officer spoke with the workers’ boss and told them, as they were without proper paperwork, they were done for the day.

3:40 p.m. – Police responded to a disabled motor vehicle on Route 2, which had run out of gas and parked in the breakdown lane. The vehicle was not a hazard at the time.

4:33 p.m. – Police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Main Street and located a vehicle containing multiple solicitors without Acton permits. As a result, Eric Abbott, 28, of 19 Jay St., New London, Conn, was arrested on a warrant out of Auburn.

6:45 p.m. – An Orchard Drive resident called to report solicitors came to her house earlier in the day.

7:04 p.m. – A Laws Brook Road resident called to complain about dirt bikes causing a disturbance near her home. The responding officer reported the dirt bikes were gone on arrival.

7:04 p.m. – Police responded to a report of lights on and a door open at a Main Street property that had been closed on. Responders shut off the gas and stove inside the home, as both the gas and pilot light were on and no one was around, and secured the house as well, according to the log entry.

8:39 p.m. – Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident in the K-Mart parking lot on Main Street. One of the motorists involved was transported to Emerson Hospital for medical attention.
