Acton Officials Receive $40,000 Innovation Grant

The announcement was made on behalf of CrossTown Connect.

Acton town officials recently learned that their efforts over recent months have not gone unnoticed.

Representative Jennifer Benson recently joined Acton town officials at the State House to recognize the town as a recipient of a Fiscal Year 2014 Community Innovation Challenge grant.

Acton was awarded $40,000 on behalf of CrossTown Connect, which is a Transportation Management Association that was created along with Boxborough, Concord, Littleton, Maynard, Stow, Westford, and private businesses, according to the announcement.

CrossTown Connect has achieved a variety of goals, including bringing 13 vans and 7 dispatch systems to the area.

“I was happy to join members of the Acton community, and CrossTown Connect, as they were acknowledged as a Community Innovation Challenge (CIC) grant recipient," said Benson. "CrossTown Connect has not only established long-lasting relationships among surrounding communities, but continues to create sustainable transportation options for members of the community.”
