Kennedy Legacy Interpretive Trail Meeting Tonight

The proposed trail would improve a path from the Kennedy Museum on Hyannis Main Street to Pearl Street.

The Town of Barnstable in partnership with local partners is proposing the creation of the Kennedy Legacy Interpretive Trail.

The proposed trail would extend from the Kennedy Museum on Main Street, continue left onto Pearl Street and proceed along portions of South Street and Ocean Street.

The community is invited to an informal discussion regarding this project, specifically regarding the Pearl Street portion of the trail. Funds are available for improvements to the sidewalk, lighting and street-scape on Pearl Street. Members from the Growth Management Department staff will lead the meeting to solicit ideas for this project.

The group meets tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 5 pm in the Town Hall Hearing Room. If you are unable to attend but would like to be kept informed of future meetings, please e-mailgrowth.management@town.barnstable.ma.us and reference “Kennedy Legacy Trail – Pearl Street”

Why is this being named after the Kennedy family? There are so many individuals who deserve recognition for their family contributions to this town. Not everything needs to be named after a Kennedy (unless the Kennedy family is actually contributing some money towards the project.)
