Acton-Boxborough Beats Billerica, Advances to State Quarterfinal

In its first tournament game, the top-seeded Colonials earned a 2-0 win.

Acton-Boxborough is among the final eight teams remaining in Division 1 girls hockey as the locals snagged a 2-0 first round win to set up a quarterfinal date with Barnstable.

After earning the bracket's top seed and a first round bye, Acton-Boxborough took to the ice over the weekend and kept its season alive with the victory over Billerica.

Thanks to the win, the Lady Colonials will play on Tuesday night at Stoneham Arena in the state quarterfinal round.

The winner of that game will take on either Duxbury or Watertown/Belmont in the Division 1 semifinal, with a berth in the state championship game at TD Garden on the line.

Looking ahead, the semifinal game is scheduled for March 9, while the state title contest is March 16 should Acton-Boxborough advance that far.
