In addition, the boys hockey team and both basketball squads received their playoff pairings over the weekend.

It's going to be a busy postseason for Acton-Boxborough sports fans.

The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association released its brackets over the weekend, and included in them are four Colonial teams. Highlighting the playoff pairings is the the girls hockey team, which enters the postseason as the number one seed in Division 1.

Thanks to a 19-2-0 regular season, Acton-Boxborough snagged top billing and earned a preliminary round bye. The locals will take on either Framingham or Billerica in the first round of the Division 1 tournament.

That game is scheduled for Saturday at 6:10 p.m. at Nashoba. If the Colonials win, they'll take on either Woburn, Medford or Barnstable in the quarterfinals.

Acton-Boxborough's boys hockey team is in the playoffs as well. The Colonials skated to a 10-6-4 mark, good for the No. 11 seed in North Division 1.

The locals will play Medford on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. in Watertown. If they're able to take home a win in that first round game, the Colonials will play either Matignon or Wilmington, which won the last two Division 2 state championships before earning the No. 3 seed in Division 1 this year.

On the hardwood, Acton-Boxborough earned itself the No. 8 seed in the Central Division 1 bracket. As a result, the Colonials will play on Monday night at 7 p.m. at home versus South High School. The winner takes on Fitchburg, the tournament's top seed.

The girls basketball team is the No. 7 seed in Central Division 1. They'll host Doherty on Tuesday night at home with a 7 p.m. tip off. The winner takes on Westford Academy in the quarterfinal round.
