Medford Knocks Acton-Boxborough Boys Hockey From Tournament

On Wednesday night Medford came away with a 4-2 victory.

Higher seeded Medford proved to be too much for Acton-Boxborough as the Colonials were eliminated from the North Division 1 postseason on Monday night.

Medford came into the came with a 12-5-3 record as the bracket's No. 6 seed while Acton-Boxborough was the No. 11 team in the tournament following a 10-6-4 regular season.

The seedings held true as Medford skated to a 4-2 victory on Wednesday night thanks to third period goals from Paul Zizzo and Sean Allen. Those tallies broke a 2-2 tie late in the game and helped Medford advance.

Goals from Acton-Boxborough's Tommy Peduto and Ben Barton helped the Colonials take a 2-1 edge in the middle period, but they couldn't hold on.

Following the victory, Medford advances to face Wilmington, which won the last two Division 2 state championships before being forced to move up to Division 1 this year. The details of that quarterfinal game have not been released, but it will likely be held on Saturday.
