Multiple Acton-Boxborough Fighting for League Titles

The hockey and basketball teams are among the AB squads having strong seasons.

High school teams throughout the state are coming down the stretch of the winter sports season, and for Acton-Boxborough athletes it's been a successful campaign so far.

Several local teams are vying for first place, including the AB girls hockey team which currently sits atop the Merrimack Valley/Dual County League standings.

The girls team is 12-2 overall, and boasts a sparking 9-0 record in league play. That puts the locals well ahead of Andover, which is in second place at 8-3-3 overall and 5-1-1 in league play.

Also on the ice, the boys hockey team is 7-3-3 overall and 5-1-3 in the difficult Merrimack Valley/Dual County standings. That is good for second place behind Central Catholic's mark of 10-2-2, 6-0-2 respectively.

On the hardwood, the AB girls basketball team is making a charge at a league title as well. The locals sport a 10-3 overall record, and a mark of 4-1 in Dual County League play. That's good for second place behind Westford Academy, which is 13-1 overall and 4-0 in the league.

Acton-Boxborough's boys basketball team is looking good for postseason play as well. The team is 7-5 overall so far this season, sitting in second place in the Dual County League behind Newton South thanks to a league record of 3-2. Newton's first place record is 3-1 in DCL play, but the team is only 6-7 overall.
