ABRHS Paints the Town Pink with Legally Blonde: The Musical
"Legally Blonde: The Musical" is a bubbly pink valentine of a show with witty lyrics and non-stop dancing. At Acton-Boxborough Reg High School, Feb 1 – 9. Tickets info at ABDrama.org
Legally Blonde, The Musical is, at first glance, a fluffy fairy tale about a sorority girl who takes on Harvard Law School in order to win back her boyfriend. The musical, based on the book and movie of the same name, opened on Broadway in 2007 to mixed reviews. But its positive spirit, wrapped in pink, has made it a hit with non-professional groups who produce this show.
When we meet Elle Woods, the quintessential blonde California princess, her life at UCLA appears to be perfect. She is president of Delta Nu, has a flock of sorority sisters who adore her, and a handsome boyfriend named Warner who is about to propose—what more could a coed want?
Elle’s journey takes her from being college coed whose main focus is shopping for the perfect dress, to an astute young lawyer who has gained confidence in her ability to “help the underdog.” Along the way she encourages others to put their best self forward and proves herself to her fellow students and professor who have underestimated her from the start.
