Acton Food Pantry Seeks Volunteers

Individuals needed for food distribution and truck deliveries.

The Acton Community Supper and Food Pantry is seeking volunteers to work Wednesdays on different shifts.

The Pantry, which currently serves 200 families each Wednesday, is in need of individuals to assist clients during the Wednesday food distribution.

The Pantry will train the right candidates.

The job requires a weekly commitment of two hours on each Wednesday the Pantry is open. The openings are:

  • 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.;
  • 12-2 p.m.;
  • 2-4 p.m.;
  • 5-7 p.m. 
Shopper aides work one-on-one with clients, guiding them through the shopping process. Shopping requires pushing a shopping cart through the Pantry food aisles and outside in all weather.

The Pantry also needs volunteers to help unload truck deliveries from the Greater Boston Food Bank on Mondays from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. - depending upon the volume of delivery. The right candidates will be able to lift/move cases of frozen as well as non-perishable food items – cases may weigh about 30 pounds. Food items to be stored in proper places within the food pantry.
