Weekend Agenda: Halloween Haunts, 'The Tempest' Touches Down

A few events to consider as you fill in your weekend planner.

The weekend has arrived, but you’ve got no idea what you’re going to do? Patch is coming to the rescue with your best bets for the done-work-outta-here time.

Check out our picks for activities you won’t want to miss this weekend: 

1.  ABRHS PC Presents 'The Tempest'
Where/When: Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, 36 Charter Road, Acton; 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26; Matinee on Sunday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Nov. 2
Why Go:
A-B's production of Shakespeare's “The Tempest” will be directed by Noah Simes, an A-B alum and graduate of UMass-Amherst, where he majored in theatre.
Pricing: $14 for evening shows, $12 for the matinees

2. 'Side Show' Opens at Emerson Umbrella 
Where/When: Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, 40 Stow St., Concord; 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25
Why Go: An award-winning but rarely staged musical, “Side Show” follows the lives of co-joined twins Daisy and Violet Hilton as their circus act rises to fame during the Depression. 
Pricing: $30

3. Acton Family Network's Halloween Party
Where/When: RJ Grey Junior High School Gymnasium, 16 Charter Road, Acton; 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26
Why Go: For the music, dancing, trick-or-treating, crafts and costume parades and contests for children and adults .
Pricing: Free for adults, AFN families and children under age 1. Otherwise, it's $3 per child with a max of $10 per family. Also, donation collections ask for a pack of diapers for the Acton Food Pantry.

4. "Furry Tales"
Where/When: RJ Grey Junior High School, 16 Charter Road, Acton; 3 and 6 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26 
Why Go: The Acton Cooperative Theater (The A.C.T.)  will present "Furry Tales," a humorous story in which fairy tale creatures, who have always lived peacefully with the talking animals, begin mixing up their stories and losing their tails. 
Pricing: $12

5. Halloween Spectacular Open House
Where/When: Acton Jazzercise Fitness Center 423 Great Road, Acton; 9 to 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 27 
Why Go: The Jazzercise staff promises to thrill with their talents in an open house offering a 90-minutes of pure fun. 
Pricing: Free
