Weekend Agenda: Science, a Community Cleanup and an Acton Community Chorus Special Event

A handful of events to consider before filling in your weekend planner.

The weekend has arrived, but you’ve got no idea what you’re going to do? Patch is coming to the rescue with your best bets for the done-work-outta-here time.

Check out our picks for activities you won’t want to miss this weekend: 

1. Science Family Night
Where/When: ABRHS Cafeteria, 36 Charter Road, Acton; 6:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15
Why Go: 
The Science and Envirothon Teams at ABRHS will be doing fun, hands-on activities with elementary-aged students from Acton and Boxborough. Think: DNA models made from candy and bridges made out of popsicle sticks. Get the details here.
Pricing: $5 per family. Plus food, beverages and raffle tickets for sale. 

2. Acton Community Chorus Presents Mama Miaon the Big Screen
Where/When: The Historic Strand Theatre, 58 High Street, Clinton; 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16 
Why Go:
It's a fall fundraiser for the Acton Community Chorus in which chorus members and the audience can sing along while enjoying the Abba songbook-based film's beautiful presentation of the Greek isles backdrop. Get the details here.

3. The Savoyard Light Opera Company Presents Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado
Where/When: Corey Auditorium at Carlisle Middle School, Church St, Carlisle; 7:30 p.m, Saturday, Nov. 16 
Why Go: 
For "the glorious music and witty comedy of Gilbert & Sullivan's The Mikado, featuring full orchestra, original scenery, lush costumes and professional lighting." Get the details here
Pricing: $24 (adults), $22 (seniors/students) and $16 (children 12 and under)

4. Clean Up Day to Assist Opening of Native American Historical Site in North Acton
Where/When: Robbins Mill Pond, Wheeler Lane, North Acton; 1 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17 
Why Go: 
Because the Acton Democratic Town Committee is sponsoring a community service day to will assist in the opening of a second Native American site  along the Trail Through Time in North Acton. Those who pitch in for the cleanup will also "learn of the special history of this historic region of Acton and some of the recent thinking of what might have transpired on this land during its development in the late 17th century." 5. Sarasa Ensemble and Mezzo Krista River
Where/When: First Parish in Concord, 20 Lexington Road, Concord; 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 17
Why Go: 
Because the Sarasa Chamber Music Ensemble begins its Concord series with a concert featuring Boston based mezzo-soprano Krista River. Get the details here. 
Pricing: $24  general admission / $20 senior / $12 student / Free children
