DO NOT TAKE AN ANIMAL HERE. EVER. NO MATTER HOW CRITICAL THEY ARE. Drive the extra distance to a facility that has ethics and puts your pet's needs FIRST. My experience has been that they are all about the money. The answers given on their FAQ's page is lies. For example: They expected my dog to have to stay 3 days and the balance ($3300-5000+) would be due upon discharge. No problem. I managed to come up with a $600 deposit in the middle of the night and knew they'd have the rest once banks opened. In the mean time my dog was in the back dying because his stomach and spleen were twisted without being given i.v., hydration, sedation, pain
management, etc. An i.v. should always be administered 1st thing before veins collapse. No brainer. Instead they did xrays (which coincidently cost $600) and wouldn't do anything further until they had more money. After 3 hours I knew he would die if we stayed. Despite charging ($95-150) for an i.v. he didn't get one. He went into shock. They allowed an animal to suffer. That is UNACCEPTABLE. Before we left to go to a great new facility in Westford AEC said they'd relieve pressure in Bruin's belly. They didn't. This Jim guy, who is not a vet, calls all the shots. The real vets don't do anything w/o his ok. Is that how a hospital should be run??? Does he have so little faith in his staff? Bruin should've had immediate surgery in this case & didn't shows the incompetance & cruelty of James Sheehy and his staff.

The Survey Sez: The Animal Emergency Care Center located in Acton, is the pits. They must sell meat by the pound here based on the hideously poor care our pet received.

We asked the tech if he was still vomiting and she said no. We then asked what they had done to help him and they said nothing (after 5 hours mind you) that we needed to tell them what we wanted them to do!

They said the dog should stay the night and it would be between $900.00 and $1,8000.00 for the stay. They also said he would need more x-rays in the morning for an additional $600.00 They then said they saw a blockage in his stomach and the surgery would be between $5,000.00 and $8,000.00 dollars.

We went into shock over the estimate and the tech we were working with said, and I quote, "we typically pad the estimate so let me see what I can do to lower it."

Our primary vet took him first thing and immediately went to work on re-hydration, pain management, antibiotics and blood work. The love and caring of a vet who truly loves animals saved this dogs life. The dog had a virus!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNCARING, HEARTLESS, MONEY GRUBBING, POOR EXCUSE FOR AN ANIMAL HOSPITAL THAT EMPLOYS SCARE TACTICS AND PREYS ON YOUR EMOTIONAL STATE FOR THEIR OWN GOOD AND PROFIT.
