School Douglas School reached its March Reading Challenge goal. Each year the C. T. Douglas Elementary School library sponsors a March Reading Challenge. This year students were challenged to “Read to the Moon” (rounded to 200,000 miles) during the month of March. Promotions Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt launched a month-long fundraising initiative at all its Massachusetts locations to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital. All money raised will go toward the Children’s Fund, which supports the hospital’s greatest areas of need in care, research and more. The Big Brother Big Sister Foundation is in need of the public's support through donations of lightly used clothing and small household items. They ask, while you clean out your closets this winter to please consider donating your lightly worn clothing to the Foundation. The holidays are here and so is all the festive food. Sunday, December 2 & 9 from 10am-1pm in Acton- Pet Photos with Santa to benefit Pets and People Foundation- Your $10 donation to Pets and People Foundation gets you in the door for a photo shoot with the one and only Santa Claus! Massachusetts State Police will set up sobriety checkpoints somewhere in Middlesex County over Thanksgiving weekend, from Friday, Nov. 23 into Saturday. Nov. 24. State Police say the purpose for the checkpoints "is to further educate the motoring public. The AB Youth Softball organization will hold its annual board meeting on Tuesday November 20th 7:30-9:00 in the conference room at the Boxborough Library. Board members will be present to will review the past year and look ahead to next year.

Thomas Buckborough & Associates, an Acton Design-Build company, won a Silver Medal last evening from NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) - the Eastern Massachusetts Chapter at their awards dinner in Foxborough. Yesterday (November 3, 2012), our beloved cat, Thoreau, went missing. We live on Silver Hill Road near Parker Street in Acton. He is a ruddy (brown ticked fur) Abyssinian, small (about 8 pounds), very friendly. He has no collar (it was lost). If anyone has spotted a small exotic looking brown cat, please call us at 978-263-3869. We are very worried about him and want him back home where he belongs. Thanks! I am extremely pleased to announce that today I have been re-elected as your State Senator, representing the people of the Middlesex and Worcester district.
