A-B Football announces post-season recognition Five seniors and one junior were named Dual County League All-Stars by the Dual County Large coaches: Mike Duggan, (linebacker) was named Dual County League Defensive Player of the Year; junior Billy Jackman (defensive back); Jake Pilecki (defensive line); Brooks Poulin (defensive line); Kyle Sweeney (running back); and Peter Trombly (linebacker). Assistant Head Coach, Ray Gallant, presented senior running back, Kyle Sweeney, with the 2011 AB Colonials Most Valuable player award. Sweeney racked up more than 1300 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. His final carry of the season was short but sweet. A-B Football Falls to 4-3 Despite a spirited third quarter comeback the Colonials could not catch the red-hot Patriots as Concord-Carlisle (7-0) defeated A-B 35-12 in Concord on Friday night. A-B senior fullback Matt Brogie scored the lone A-B touchdown in the third quarter on a 2-yard run that capped off their best drive of the night. Jack Perry kicked the extra point and also added a 27-yard field goal in the quarter to cut the C-C lead to 10. Ten points was as close as the Colonials would get as C-C would pull away in the fourth quarter behind 244 yards rushing from returning DCL Small offensive player of the year George Craan. The Chelmsford Lions (2-0) football team defeated the Acton-Boxborough Colonials (1-1) 26-0 on Friday night.
After giving up 34 points last week to Westford Academy, the Chelmsford Lions (2-0) came out on Friday night and shut out the Acton-Boxborough Colonials (1-1) 26-0 at Leary Field in Acton. The Lions got superb team defense and senior quarterback, Colby Emanouil, had the game of his career rushing for two touchdowns and throwing for another in the win. Emanouil's two rushing touchdowns came in the first half as the athletic signal caller improvised and ripped through the Colonials defense for scores of 46 and 32 yards. "He (Emanouil) really showed tonight what he brings to the table," said Chelmsford head coach Bruce Rich. Chelmsford Lions (Merrimack Valley Conference Large) 1-0 at Acton-Boxborough Colonials (Dual County League Large) 1-0 Leary Field, Acton Chelmsford High School travels to Acton on Friday night to take on the Acton-Boxborough Colonials in the second game of the 2011 season. CHS showed an impressive new offense last Friday night as they hung 54 points on Westford Academy of the Dual County League Large. The Lions face their second straight DCL Large opponent in the Colonials this week. The Colonials defeated Woburn High School 33-8 last Friday night.
