Alixe Callen, the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School principal, has been selected as the next Upper School director for Lakeside in Seattle, according to a press release on the school's website. According to the release, a search committee recognized Callen as being “outstandingly qualified.” “Alixe will bring to Lakeside exceptional leadership experience in both public and private education as well as a vision of schools as places where the intellectual and emotional growth of individual students is the foremost goal,” Head of School Bernie Noe wrote in the release. “From the moment I walked onto campus, I felt such a connection to the school," Callen said in the release. High School Quiz Show, WGBH’s Emmy-Award winning fast-paced academic game show, announced the taping schedule for the 2012 tournament bracket for the 16 Massachusetts public high school academic teams competing on season three of the show. Acton-Boxborough will take on Hingham in the first round, and taping is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26, at 11:15 a.m. The show will aire Feb. 17, at 6:30 p.m. on WGBH 2. Sixteen Massachusetts public high school academic teams have advanced to compete on season four of High School Quiz Show, WGBH’s academic quiz show hosted by Billy Costa, premiering Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. on WGBH 2. The show’s production team announced the 16 schools on High School Quiz Show’s Facebook page earlier today. Teams qualified by earning top scores on “Super Sunday,” an event at which registered school teams each took an identical 100-question oral quiz at WGBH Studios in Brighton. Acton-Boxborough Regional High School is ranked 15th in the state, and seventh in the nation for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), according to a usnews.com report. The report also places A-B at No. 289. All three rankings earned A-B a gold award. In test scores, A-B scored: U.S. News calculates these values based on student performance on state exit exams and internationally available exams on college-level coursework (AP®/IB exams).
