Chain restaurant is the second in Middlesex County.
Acton residents yearning for a mouth-watering burger from Johnny Rockets won't have to travel to the Burlington Mall anymore. The popular old-style diner recently opened its first restaurant in Acton, and joins the Burlington Mall as the second location in Middlesex County. Other Johnny Rocket chains in Massachusetts include Logan Airport, Six Flags New England and South Shore Plaza. According to an online report, the Acton restaurant offers flavorful fare and friendly service in an ambiance reminiscent of feel-good Americana. Patrons can expect juicy burgers, crispy American Fries (served with a ketchup smiley face), hand-spun shakes and classic sandwiches. This week's bite is in Acton.
Well, it's 99.9 percent official. Johnny Rockets is coming to Acton. The one percent is the health permit that still needs to be filed. According to Acton's Health Director, Doug Halley, there has been no movement as of yet on the health permit but the building permit was recently granted and construction is underway. In an email from the VP of Brand Marketing/Communications for Johnny Rockets, Cozette Koerber mentioned to Patch a grand-opening later this summer. The location is where Friendly's used to be on 387 Massachusetts Avenue, Acton.

One greasy chain moves out and another moves in.
According to Acton's Building Commissioner, Frank Ramsbottom, word is Johnny Rockets will be filling the vacant spot where Friendly's used to be on 387 Massachusetts Avenue, Acton. The company that owns the building, Edens, confirmed Johnny Rockets is officially coming to Acton, but there is no official word as to when it will be open. Ramsbottom said a permit was recently filed to work on the construction on the exterior of the building and a permit to remodel the interior is soon to come. The scupper jacks building does not meet building codes so no one will touch it. the cost of renovation will be huge and i predict the building remains vacant until it is either torn down or a large chain decides to take on the project. the building is too large for a johnny rockets. a few years ago a rumor existed of buffalo wild wings looking at that local but they went to leominster. much …   more ›
