I have to disagree with the countering comments. I don't think the schools are over-emphasizing on the extra curriculum activities like sports until an extent of neglecting or under-prioritizing the educational portion. As a parent, I believe that extra curriculum activities such as sports are just as important, on top of the educational programs in schools. In fact, sports keep our brains fit … more ›

The T.J. O'Grady Skate Park is closed during construction for the Lower Fields project.
Since the recent start of the construction of the Lower Fields project, the T.J. O'Grady Skate Park has been temporarily closed for safety reasons. Fences have been erected around the park to prevent skating while large construction equipment and machinery occupy the park. According to a construction worker on site, an unknown person or persons broke a few windows of two CAT construction trucks, which estimated to roughly $6,000 in damage. This occurred sometime within the past two weeks. Acton Recreation Director Cathy Fochtman said the park must remain closed during the construction process (which is said to be completed by mid August) for safety reasons. According to Fochtman, the Rec. department is looking for input from local skaters…
